Great South Bay Ecosystem-Based Management Stakeholder Outreach

Client NYS Department of State Division of Coastal Resources
Dates 2007-2008
Location Long Island, NY

EcoLogic designed and implemented a stakeholder outreach initiative for the developing ecosystem-based management plan for the Great South Bay. This initiative was the result of the August 2006 New York Ocean and Great Lakes Ecosystem Conservation Act, which was developed to conserve, maintain, and restore the state’s coastal ecosystems to a healthy, productive, and resilient state. The legislation identified two demonstration areas for ecosystem-based management in New York State. The two areas are the Great South Bay portion of the Long Island South Shore Estuary Reserve, and the Sandy Creeks watershed in eastern Lake Ontario.
