Lake dredging projects are rare within the Adirondack Park, and require a long-term commitment to overcome the many regulatory hurdles. Hats off to Bellmont NY for their perseverance! The Town Board of Bellmont (in northern Franklin County) is Lead Agency for their dredging project, designed to restore impaired recreational and navigational uses of this remote lake. EcoLogic has been working with the Town of Bellmont and the Mountain View Association since 2013 to address the concerns of the permitting agencies (Adirondack Park Agency, Army Corps of Engineers, and NYS Department of Environmental Conservation) and ensure that dredging can proceed without harm. On Monday November 28, 2016, the Bellmont Town Board completed their final review of the State Environmental Quality Review files, clearing the way for filing the regulatory permits.
